LDA is committed to giving back and investing in the communities where we live and work. For the third year in a row, LDA is proud to be a main event sponsor for Oak Ridge’s Secret City Festival. The importance and history of the festival to the citizens of Oak Ridge made this a great opportunity for LDA to show its support for the City. The City of Oak Ridge, Tennessee began the tradition of its annual city festival in 1982. Through the years, the name has changed from Azalea Festival, to Mayfest, to the Secret City Festival. In 2003, the festival became the Secret City Festival to more closely showcase Oak Ridge’s heritage in America’s history. Presented by the City of Oak Ridge, the Arts Council of Oak Ridge, and the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau, the festival offers events for the entire family.

Originally, it was a way to commemorate Oak Ridge’s unique history and honor the men and women who built the community and helped end the greatest war mankind has ever known. The mission of the Secret City Festival is to “become a premier event in East Tennessee while fostering pride and involvement in the Oak Ridge community by showcasing its diversity through cultural events and activities for people of all ages. The festival promotes the history of the city and unites its World War II heritage with the technological advancements that are ongoing within the City of Oak Ridge”.

The award-winning, 2-day event includes concerts, WWII Living History activities and demonstrations, other history exhibits, a zip line and dino dig for children, and arts and crafts. There are additional off-site events that include tours of Y-12 and ORNL Graphite Reactor, a DOE facility bus tour, the Secret City scenic excursion train, and a cruise-in car show.

LDA Engineering is proud to continue our tradition of sponsoring The Secret City Festival. This year, we are helping to bring The Marshall Tucker Band (MTB) to the festival the evening of June 12. MTB will be fondly remembered from the 70’s and 80’s as Gold and Platinum artists with songs like “Can’t You See” and “Heard it in a Love Song”. Not only is the band a Top 100 charter, their music has been used in several memorable and award winning motion pictures. Gates open at 5:30 pm, with Steve Rutledge and The Grove Evolution opening the concert at 7:00. The Marshall Tucker Band will take the stage at 8:00.
