LDA is excited to welcome Ethan W. Skaggs, PE as the newest member of firm’s leadership team. Based in our Memphis office, Ethan is joining LDA’s team as a Principal Engineer. He will be managing transportation and public works infrastructure projects as part of a team working with clients to build stronger, happier communities throughout Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and the greater Southeast region.
Ethan has over 14 years of experience in transportation engineering; planning, designing, and constructing transportation improvement projects. He is experienced in the design and construction of transportation projects from small scale public and private projects, to large scale roadway, bridge and runway improvement projects. He is experienced in managing capital improvement programs for transportation infrastructure improvements, ranging from sidewalk and pedestrian improvement projects to resurfacing management programs.
Ethan currently serves as the West Branch Director for the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association (TCAPWA). He previously served the chapter as the West Branch Young Professionals (YP) Representative, where his efforts earned him the honor as the Edward C. Archer Young Member Award (2019). Ethan also serves as a Structures Specialist with TNTF1, a FEMA USAR team based in Memphis. He is continually involved in the Tennessee Section and Southern District of ITE and has served in several executive and committee roles throughout his career.
He spends his time away from work, enjoying anything and everything outdoors with his wife and newly arrived four-month-old daughter. He is an avid supporter of his alma-mater, the University of Memphis (BSCE 09’). Ethan shared about his role as an engineer, “The most rewarding aspect of the work we do as an industry, Civil Engineering, is the enhancement of the quality of life our work has on society. Whether it be the structures we occupy at work or at home; the transportation systems we use from roadways, waterways, railways, to airways; the water we drink, or the water we waste; Civil Engineers design, construct, and maintain this entire physical and naturally built environment.
