LDA ENGINEERING HIRES STEVE DRUMMER AS SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER

LDA Engineering announced the hiring of Steve Drummer as senior civil engineer to help serve clients in Tennessee, Southeast Kentucky and Southwest Virginia. Drummer has 34 years of experience in municipal engineering, site development, transportation and drainage design and construction.

“Steve’s wealth of experience on diverse projects will be an incredible asset to our clients,” said Jason Brooks, CEO of LDA Engineering. “Steve has extensive engineering knowledge of the drinking water, wastewater and stormwater management industry in both the municipal and private sectors.”

Currently, Drummer is managing the infrastructure design for the city of Morristown’s stormwater program.

Drummer began his career at the Tennessee Department of Transportation working on major roadways throughout Tennessee for 10 years. After that, he was the director of engineering for the city of Maryville for seven years before striking out on his own as a private consultant for engineering firms such as Barge Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc., and Allen and Hoshall.

As a private consultant, he worked on such notable projects as the Spallation Neutron Source facility for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was also involved in the design of the redevelopment of World’s Fair Park in the 1990s. From 2010 to 2012, Drummer served as city engineer for the city of Bristol, Va.

Some of Drummer’s other Knox County projects include site design for the University of Tennessee (UT) Music Center, UT BioTech Greenhouse, Webb School’s Science Building, Christian Academy of Knoxville’s High School and Middle School additions and the downtown Regal Riviera Theater. He also designed projects for the Reese Museum at East Tennessee State University and the Veterans Administration Campus in Johnson City, Tenn.

Drummer, a Knoxville native, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1979. He is licensed as a professional engineer in Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. Over the years, he has been a member of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers serving terms as Knoxville Chapter president and vice president.

In his spare time, he referees for the AYSO soccer program and local high school soccer teams. Drummer lives in Fountain City with his wife, Pamela, and his children, Evan and Katelyn, both attend the University of Tennessee.
