Joe Martin has joined the LDA team as a geomatics/GIS analyst. Since joining our geomatics department in late 2020, he already has contributed to various projects such as the use of Civil 3D in a large streetscape design project for Johnson City; assistance with GIS on a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project for Metro Water Services in Nashville; and draft of the initial sheet design for the Lower Boones Creek Interceptor project in Johnson City.
Joe has eight years of experience using GIS in a range of industries, including telecom, engineering and the energy sector. His work has included maintaining and updating a fiber network inventory system; conducting site surveys for cell tower projects; and creating visual representations of mineral interests for oil producers.
“I have found that the greatest enjoyment I get from my work is when I’m able to provide value by discovering and extracting trends and visual information by using spatial analysis,” Joe said.
Joe graduated from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee, with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a master’s degree in GIS. A native of East Tennessee, Joe recently moved back to the Knoxville area from Denver, Colorado, where his love of the outdoors grew. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. Some of their favorite family activities include hiking, playing with their dog, Strider, and frequenting local ice cream shops.
