The City of Morristown has recently begun a $5 million, city-wide Stormwater Capital Improvement Program to correct many of the more critical drainage issues the City has identified. LDA is the Prime Consultant selected to both manage the Program and furnish professional design services on a project by project basis.
The North Fairmont Avenue Drainage Improvements Project was the first “early-action” project in the Program to be designed and was recently completed. The project, located in a residential area and on a minor collector road, will provide a stormwater collection and conveyance system to intercept storm runoff that previously drained along the roadway pavement at depths that created periodically dangerous conditions where automobiles were prone to hydroplaning.
The project hydrology and hydraulics were modeled in Autodesk’s Storm and Sanitary Analysis program which allows the design engineer to seamlessly integrate the analysis with the design. LDA worked in conjunction with the City of Morristown to obtain easements, construction bids, and provide inspection and engineering services during construction.
