- New Multi-level Water Withdrawal
As a part of the design for a new water treatment facility for the City of Crossville, LDA designed a new raw water intake located on Meadow Park Lake. The intake design included multi-level water withdrawal capability, vertical turbine raw water pumps, and a cast-in-place concrete intake structure. The intake design included two well screens at “high” and “low” levels to facilitate withdrawal of the highest quality water for treatment purposes. The two water levels were determined based on calculations of water quality during the cold and hot weather months, as well as the potential for leaves introduced into the lake during the fall months.
The 24-inch intake screens were fitted with air scour to remove debris and sediments from around the screens. Other project highlights include a new 3 MGD treatment facility, new 1 million gallon pre-stressed concrete storage tank, and architectural treatments that made the plant blend in with its surroundings
