KUB Force Main Assessment

LDA Engineering is working with KUB to assess the condition of 64 of their high pressure force mains. To increase cost savings, representative condition factors were used in conjunction with existing information to estimate the condition of each asset. For KUB’s high pressure force mains, both structural and maintenance condition factors were used to rank each asset. In order to determine the highest priority for replacement or rehabilitation, the pipes were ranked based on their existing condition. Force mains determined to have a high priority score, will be scheduled for recommended maintenance, rehabilitation, and/or replacement. Force mains that receive a low priority conditional rating will receive some level of continued monitoring and assessment but no immediate action or rehabilitation. LDA made several recommendations for KUB for future planning efforts for the overall force main assessment.
During the Force Main Assessment, an air valve component inspection was also completed on more than 75 air valves on high pressure force mains. The inspections were performed to further determine if the air valves required maintenance or immediate replacement. For several of the air valves, LDA staff provided limited maintenance where possible and also completely replaced three.Back to Projects
