LDA developed plans to construct a new 16-inch water transmission main to improve water service to Morristown Utility Commission customers within the ETPC industrial park. The ETPC was being served through a connection to a neighboring utility district with limited supply capabilities. The ETPC main was designed and constructed to create a direct connection from the existing Morristown Utility Commission distribution system to the industrial park and the existing ETPC reservoir.
The project included the installation of 24,000 linear feet of 16-inch water main and appurtenances. Design challenges included routing the water main along city streets and a county road with an existing sanitary sewer force main and a water line belonging to a neighboring utility district, bored and jacked crossings of a state highway and Norfolk Southern Railroad, and numerous stream crossings. The new main provides a means to meet present and future industrial park demand by providing sufficient water necessary for domestic, process, and fire protection uses.
LDA also prepared easements and negotiated the acquisitions on behalf of Morristown Utility Commission, provided permitting and bidding assistance, engineering services during construction, and resident project representation services.Back to Projects
