LDA Engineering was selected by the City of Chattanooga to perform an investigation of the infiltration/inflow in the Altamont sewers flowing to the Altamont pumping station. LDA personnel conducted manhole inspections and smoke testing of the sewers and reviewed previously recorded closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspection. After the investigative work was completed, LDA worked with City staff to develop a rehabilitation plan.
The pumping station was unique, with two sets of force mains and pumps to handle wet vs. dry weather flows. It was also up sized to match anticipated flows. LDA increased the size of the pumps and added new flow measuring equipment, 4 new pumps, new telemetry, new motor control center and control panel, and new auxiliary power generation.
The sewer basin rehabilitation included approximately 15,000 linear feet of rehabilitation, and complex issues of working around heavy traffic, through an established neighborhood, and designing complex accessibility solutions for high slopes and infrastructure located under structures. LDA’s other services included:
- Contract Administration
- Resident Project Representative Services
