LDA’s Mark Harrison and volunteers from the North River Soccer Association gathered to participate in the Tennessee Environmental Council’s 50k Tree Day and invest in Chattanooga’s infrastructure. The Tennessee River Soccer Company (TRSC) is a nonprofit that manages the Dupont Soccer Complex for the City of Chattanooga. Their goal is to provide youth soccer programs that keep kids healthy and active, while keeping the cost to the tax payer at a minimum. The program is managed and operated by volunteers who show their support for players and appreciation for their City by giving their time and abilities. The volunteers organize the youth soccer programs under the North River Soccer Association (NRSA).
On March 21st, NRSA volunteers including LDA Client Services Manager, Mark Harrison, who is also President of the soccer association, gathered to plant 38 trees in support of the 50k Tree Day sponsored by the Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC). The trees planted included Virginia Pine, Pin Oak, Silky Dogwood, and Nine Bark.
Braving the cold and rain, volunteers including LDA’s Mark Harrison worked hard to add beauty and provide shade for soccer games played throughout the summer.
The TEC’s goal is educating and advocating for the conservation and improvement of Tennessee’s environment, communities, and public health. Through the NRSA parent and player volunteers participation in this event, we were able to invest in a park we love and their City, by providing something that the players to be proud of and enjoy for years to come.
As President of NRSA, the reward of working alongside soccer parents and players was doubled by the fact that some of those volunteers also represent some of LDA’s clients, the City of Chattanooga, and Hamilton County.
